Night photography has been something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time. However, the best spot in the city to take some night shots would have to be downtown Shreveport here all of the casinos are lit up and you can take advantage of the sparkling lights and wonderful scenery. In my opinion, there are some drawbacks when trying to take pictures downtown especially at night depending on where you are. Especially with just starting with photography, you will get the occasional people passing by and looking at you weird but sometimes you just have to push it to the back of your head and not let it interfere with what you are doing. I recently had the chance to get out downtown and get to do some night photography for the first time and some of the pictures I took turned out better than I had imagined.
For the shots that I had taken, I went to the top of the Eldorado casino parking garage and parked in a spot where I could utilize the neon lights from the casino as well as Somme neon lights that were at the top of the parking garage. Once I had the shot set up and what I wanted to get, I started trying to figure out my settings as to what would or best since shooting in low light is completely new to me. I kept my aperture as low as it could go with a shutter speed of around one to five seconds. This is just a little taste of what I would like to do with night photography. I am currently planning on getting some LED lights and doing some light painting and doing some crazy things with that. In the meantime, I will keep experimenting with what I have now and dial in my desired settings for some even better-looking pictures!
