Taking a little break from talking about my photography adventures, let’s get real for a quick and just talk about what’s going on in life. There honestly have not been too many opportunities to get out and take pictures of my car or possibly some landscape or stock photos. Being from the south and being used to normal/warm weather, if the temperature dips below a certain degree, we immediately hide from the cold weather and stay inside. This “stereotype” was especially shown this past week with temperatures falling to a reported below zero temperature with snowfall from 3-9.5 inches of snow across Texas. This was a historic week in terms of weather for Texas. From memory, this has been the most snow that has ever blessed east Texas and surrounding parts of Louisiana. With the cold weather and the attempt to stay inside and stay warm, staying inside seemed like the best option. However, the snow does give photographers a great opportunity for pictures. In all honesty, the only thing I was worried about was staying warm and safe and of course, getting out occasionally to see how much snow had fallen across campus. Amid this winter snowstorm, the opportunity of getting out and being creative has felt somewhat limited. There is barely anywhere to go and most people including me hate having cold hands. Whenever the weather begins to warm up, possibly the first thing I will do is go out and find new locations to shoot and will be updating the blog as soon as I get the opportunity to.
In a way to make up for not taking any pictures during the snow storm, here is a picture from the first snow of the year back in January.
